Testing and Inspection

The Institute of Electrical Engineers recommends that every electrical installation is inspected for electrical safety every five years or at change of ownership. This inspection is recorded on an individually numbered periodic inspection report. This forms a statement of the fundamental aspects of safety and condition of the electrical installation.
Electrical Installation Testing
An installation is the wiring system of a building from the mains position to items of electrical equipment, sockets, light fittings and everything in between and is the system in which all the equipment is, or may be, electrically connected to a common source of electrical energy. Electrical installation testing is also referred to as BS7671, periodic inspection, landlord testing, Electricity at Work, fixed appliance, fixed equipment, fixed machine, hard wiring, fixed wiring testing, mains, circuit or insurance testing.
